ECCOgen to Grant 50 California Schools Free Campus Card System
Fall 2008

SAN FRANCISCO (September 4. 2008) – ECCOgen – the cashless campus solution provider – announced today its intent to hand pick 50 California schools in the fall of 2008 for a no-cost ECCOgen Campus Card Program implementation. The ECCOgen Campus Card, already in place at several other schools including three of the largest private schools in California, allows students to make cafeteria and other on-campus purchases without using cash.

"Nearly every private school I have talked to has mentioned a need to speed cafeteria lines, increase food sales, improve accounting processes, not to mention give their students and parents a more convenient and secure way to make purchases. Now we can deliver that with no cost to these schools." Says ECCOgen founder and president, Michael Ferguson.

The 50 schools ECCOgen selects, based on a variety of criteria, receive an on-line portal in which parents load value onto their students account, state-of-the-art Point of Sale Systems complete with touch screens and card readers, installation and training of the school's food service staff; all at no cost to the school. Parents may opt in with a nominal annual fee. Parents decide the amount of money to load onto their children's cards weekly or monthly, eliminating the hassle of doling out cash every day for school lunches and allowing parents control of how the money is being spent.

Tom Gorndt, Business Manager at Bellarmine College Prep High School, implemented the Campus Card last year and states "Working with ECCOgen has been such an easy process. They installed the software, and POS equipment, as well as trained our entire food service staff in just a day and a half. With the new campus card in place, we are seeing a 75% decrease in the amount of time it takes to get kids through the cafeteria line, we have reduced the amount of time it takes to account for cash by a 50%, and our food sales are up 50% from the same time last year."

A key element that makes the campus card attractive to parents is the ability for parental control with on- line tracking of purchases, allowing parents to view purchases including the food choices their children make. With childhood obesity ranking as a major concern on a national level, parents place great value on being able to monitor their children's food purchases, ensuring that their children are making healthy and nutritious food choices while in school.
